Sheila Galvan was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Her passion for art commenced growing up
watching her mother, an oil painter, create wonderous works of art. Upon marrying into the U.S.
Army, Sheila has traveled and lived around the world. Once her husband retired, her artistic
pursuits came front and center. When the opportunity to move back to London came, she and her
husband jumped at the chance to reunite with a town they loved and friends they never forgot.
Sheila has historically painted in watercolour due to their ease in transport. Having lived for a
period in Santa Fe, New Mexico, watercolour proved to be more of a challenge and Sheila
transitioned to dry pastels. Since transitioning, she has been hooked! The ability and immediacy
of pastels to convey the temperate and fleeting climate of the New Mexican landscape has made
Sheila a lover of painting out of doors, En Plein Aire. Sheila is a member of the London Plein
Air Painters and enjoys scouting out new local subjects to paint.
